FAIRMONT, W. Va. -  The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Volleyball Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan. 

Frostburg State’s outside hitter Alliyah McNair is the MEC Offensive Player of the Week, while Charleston’s middle blocker/right side hitter is the MEC Defensive Player of the Week.

McNair, a sophomore from Elkton, Virginia, totaled 35 kills for the Bobcats. McNair led Frostburg State to two wins for the week earning 19 kills against Point Park on Sept. 22 and 16 kills against Davis & Elkins on Sept. 25. McNair’s 19 kills against the Pioneers marked a career high, as she earned a .353 hitting percentage during the match. 

Strong, a senior from Syracuse, Utah, had a dominant performance at the net for the Golden Eagles. Strong had eight solo blocks and seven block assists, totaling 15 total blocks for the week. In the win against Walsh on Sept. 26, Strong had a match high 10 blocks.
