BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s Male and Female Tennis Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Davis & Elkins’ Christo Wirahadipoernomo has been named the MEC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week while Charleston’s Sofiia Krasikova has been named the MEC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.
 
Wirahadipoernomo, a sophomore from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, helped lead Davis & Elkins to a 2-0 week in conference play with strong performances in both singles and doubles. In the Senators’ 7-0 sweep of West Liberty, he earned a 6-3 win in doubles before cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 victory in singles. At West Virginia State, Wirahadipoernomo again secured doubles win at No. 2 with a 6-3 result and battled back in singles at No. 3 for a 1-6, 7-6, 7-5 victory. His singles and doubles win played a key role in the Senators’ 5-2 win over the Yellow Jackets.
 
Krasikova, a senior from Castellon, Spain, against Salem, Sofiia won #1 doubles 6-2, and #2 singles 6-2, 6-0. Then, against West Liberty, she also won #1 doubles 6-2, and #2 doubles 7-5, 6-4.
