BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Week 2 of the Division II college football season features five Mountain East Conference teams in action — one on Thursday night, and four more throughout the day on Saturday. West Virginia Wesleyan is in the spotlight for the Thursday night game, hosting Ohio Dominican for the Panthers' 2025 season opener. On Saturday, all four MEC teams are on the road starting with Glenville State at Millersville. Nationally ranked University of Charleston travels to face unbeaten and No. 17 West Alabama, the second consecutive week the Golden Eagles will be involved in a Top 25 matchup. Wheeling and West Liberty wrap up the day of football searching for their first wins of the young season.

Notes: This is the season opener for Ohio Dominican … the Panthers finished the 2024 season at 4-7 overall and 3-6 in conference play … Ohio Dominican has one West Virginia native on its roster, Markquan Rucker, a transfer from Glenville State … West Virginia Wesleyan is attempting to break a 25-game losing streak, dating back to Oct. 22, 2022 … the Bobcats have scored 20 unanswered points after a three-touchdown breakout in the third quarter last week … WVWC quarterback Logan Landers is coming off of a three-touchdown performance … Bobcats receiver Jordan Heyward is one of two pass catchers in the Mountain East Conference with double-digit receptions on the season … the Bobcats are one of two teams in the MEC that have not attempted a field goal this season.
