BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
University of Charleston’s Martin Echarren is the MEC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, while Concord’s Erik Lotysz is the MEC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Echarren, a freshman from Argentina, scored two goals in two games — one against Salem and another against West Virginia Wesleyan. Echarren played 133 minutes across the two games, both victories for the Golden Eagles.
Lotysz, a senior from Argentia, made his first start of the season and promptly scored a goal on a set piece that he headed in. That was the Mountain Lions’ only goal in a 1-0 win at Wheeling. He then anchored the back line in Concord’s 2-1 win against Davis & Elkins.
