BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
West Liberty’s Travis Scandalis is the MEC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Concord’s Kai Forsyth is the MEC Defensive Player of the Week.
Scandalis, a sophomore from Northport, New York, scored in each of the Hilltoppers’ games, including the game-winner in a 2-0 victory at California (Pa.). Scandalis put West Liberty ahead against Davis & Elkins with a goal in the 39th minute, but the Senators rallied for the draw.
Forsyth, a senior from England, recorded his first career brace with goals in the 42nd and 85th minute in a win against Point Park. Forsyth also anchored the Mountain Lions’ defense in the team’s first two shutouts of the season — 4-0 against PPU and 1-0 at West Virginia Wesleyan.
