BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — A trio of Mountain East Conference student-athletes earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The three-day event was hosted by Colorado State University Pueblo at the CSUP Thunderbowl.
West Liberty’s Isaac Tavo earned First Team All-America honors by placing fourth in the Discus Throw. Tavo’s throw of 55.92 meters shattered his own school record (54.56m), which was set May 10.
Two other MEC athletes earned Second Team All-America honors: Charleston’s Zane “Iggy” Chalker and Frostburg State’s Thomas McCoy.
Chalker placed 15th in the Men’s 10,000-meter event with a time of 31:11.33. At nationals, individuals who place first through eighth receive First Team recognition, while those who finish ninth through 16th are Second Team honorees.
McCoy joined Chalker as a Second Team All-American. The Bobcats athlete cleared 4.97 meters to place 11th in the Pole Vault. McCoy is the first Frostburg State student-athlete to earn a spot at nationals since 2017.
Charleston’s Brooke Burns (Women’s Hammer Throw) and West Liberty’s Ky’Ara Ross (Long Jump) also competed at nationals. Burns and Ross both starred at the MEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Morgantown, West Virginia, at the end of April. Burns, the 2025 MEC Field Athlete of the Year, took home first in the Hammer Throw and Discus at the MEC Outdoor meet, while Ross set a new school record with a leap of 6.13 meters, duplicating her school record feat at the MEC Indoor Track & Field Championships in February.
West Liberty earned five team points because of Tavo’s fourth-place finish, ranking the Hilltoppers in the Top 25 nationally.
