MEC Wrestling Teams Head to Super Region Events

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Mountain East Conference wrestling teams will compete this weekend in Super Region 1 and Super Region 3, the qualifying events for NCAA Division II Nationals in mid-March.

Super Region 1, hosted by Fairmont State at the Feaster Center in Fairmont, West Virginia, will feature MEC programs from Frostburg State and Wheeling, in addition to the hosts, in a 12-team competition. Also competing in Super Region 1: American International; East Stroudsburg; Felician; Gannon; Kutztown; Millersville; Pitt-Johnstown; Seton Hill; and Shippensburg.

Super Region 3 will be hosted by nationally ranked Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio. Four MEC programs — Davis & Elkins, Glenville State, Salem, and West Liberty — will compete alongside Tiffin, Ashland, Bluefield State, Davenport, Emory & Henry, Findlay, Grand Valley State, and Lake Erie.

Both regions will compete Saturday with each event beginning at 10 a.m.

A trio of MEC programs enter Saturday nationally ranked: No. 5 Glenville State, No. 10 West Liberty, and No. 23 Frostburg State. The Pioneers are coming off the 2025 MEC Championship, where they outlasted the Hilltoppers to repeat as conference champions. Glenville State’s team title was its second in a row, a year after the program claimed its first MEC championship.

The top three finishers in Saturday’s regional competition will advance to the NCAA Division II Nationals, which will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15.
