UC, Davis & Elkins Finish Top Three at Atlantic Region Men's Cross Country Regional

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The University of Charleston and Davis & Elkins finished second and third, respectively, at the 2025 NCAA Atlantic Region Men’s Cross Country Championship on Saturday, qualifying both teams for the NCAA meet.

The 10K race, which took place at the West Branch Cross Country Course at Stern Athletic Complex in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, featured eight Mountain East Conference teams. UC and Davis & Elkins secured a berth to the Division II National Championship, which will be held Nov. 22 at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

The Golden Eagles finished just behind Shippensburg for the regional title. UC’s runners finished seventh, ninth, 10th, 15th, and 21st. Mountain East Conference Runner of the Year Hugo Hewitt was the top MEC finisher, pacing the Golden Eagles. His teammate, MEC Freshman of the Year Harry Witt, was second among league competitors and ninth overall, while UC’s Thomas Crockett (10th), Caleb Gilbert (15th), and Jules Geffroy-Remot (21st) also finished inside the top 25.

Davis & Elkins was led by Jordan Thomas (11th), Konnor Allison (18th), Christopher Lucas (19th), and Cooper Gibson (23rd)

The top three teams from each regional meet automatically advanced to the championship (24 teams total). Individually, the top two student-athletes who are not part of a qualifying team automatically advanced (16 runners). All competitors who finished in the top five at the regional meet and are not part of a qualifying team also advanced to the NCAA Championships.
