BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Cross Country Runner of the Week awards. The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
University of Charleston’s Hugo Hewitt is the MEC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, while Glenville State’s Natalie Barr is the MEC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Hewitt, a junior from England, followed up his MEC Runner of the Year performance at the conference championships with a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region race on Saturday. Hewitt was the best finisher among MEC competitors.
Barr, a junior from Canvas, West Virginia, dazzled with her performance at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region event, winning with a time of 21:22.00 to finish first in the region. Barr broke her own school record in the 6K race, qualified for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 22, and made the all-region team for the third consecutive season.
