MEC Announces Swimmer of the Week Award Winners

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Swimmer of the Week awards. The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Wheeling’s Segmen Duygun is the MEC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while Fairmont State’s Delaney Householder is the MEC Women’s Swimmer of the Week.

Duygun, a freshman from Turkey, helped the Cardinals to a second-place finish at the WVU Games — the top team finisher among MEC schools. Duygun finished in the top 10 in every event in which he competed, including a pair of two-five finishes. He was the highest overall scorer among MEC competitors.

Householder, a sophomore from Morgantown, West Virginia, led the Falcons to a runner-up finish at the WVU Games. She scored 42 individual points, the most among non-Division I competitors. She placed fourth in the 200 backstroke, fifth in the 500 freestyle, and sixth in the 100 backstroke, the top MEC finisher in each of those events.
