CANTON, Ohio – Wheeling University men’s swimming team finished high in the overall rankings, sitting at 3
rd overall, after Day 1 of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference/Mountain East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. While Frostburg State’s women’s swimming team is sitting at 4
th overall.
One the men’s side behind Wheeling is Davis & Elkins, Frostburg State, Salem, Fairmont State, and West Virginia Wesleyan from the MEC. While on the women’s side behind Frostburg State is Fairmont State, Wheeling, Davis & Elkins, Salem, and West Virginia Wesleyan.
Wheeling took 4
th overall in the women’s 200 Medley Relay behind the University of Findlay, Ashland University, and Hilldale College of the G-MAC.
In the men’s 200 Medley Rela, Wheeling placed 3
rd behind Findlay and Ashland. Frostburg State’s Genevieve Rippeon won the women’s 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:22.25. While Wheeling’s Segmen Duygun took 3
rd in the men’s 1000 Freestyle with a time of 9:42.44.
In the men’s 200 IM, Lasse Schrieken placed 3
rd with a time of 1:52.39. Vlad Fedoseev of Fairmont State took 3
rd in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 20.70.
Fairmont State’s women took 4
th in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:38.51 while Frostburg State placed 6
th overall. In the men’s 200 Freestyle Relay, Wheeling placed 3
rd with a time of 1:25.24 finishing just ahead of Frostburg State which placed 4
th overall, followed by Salem, Fairmont State, and Davis & Elkins.
