BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Swimmer of the Week awards. The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Wheeling’s Felix Norlin is the MEC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, and Frostburg State’s Jenna Handwerger is the MEC Women’s Swimmer of the Week.
Norlin, a freshman from Sweden, helped lead the Cardinals to a sweep of Frostburg State and West Virginia Wesleyan. He picked up the 200-meter short course freestyle and 100-meter short course freestyle titles.
Handwerger, a freshman from Eldersburg, Maryland, recorded four wins in a sweep of Wheeling and West Virginia Wesleyan. She had individual wins in the 200-meter freestyle, 200-meter butterfly (program record), and 200-meter individual medley, and she was also a part of the 200-meter free relay team that took home a win.
