CANTON, Ohio
 – Fairmont State’s Zsofi Bevardi and Patrick Fubio highlighted the final night of competition and finished in the top three in their events at the GMAC/MEC Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday (Feb. 19) at the C.T. Branin Natatorium.
 
Bevardi finished second overall in the 1650 free with a time of 17:54.08. Fubio completed the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:55.72 and placed third overall.
 
On the women’s side, Hannah Berlin of Notre Dame College was the second highest MEC finisher in the 1650 free and Lydia Nebiolo placed third in the MEC. Liz Perry of Frostburg State finished sixth overall in the 100-yard freestyle. Her teammate, Kendall Hooper and NDC’s Courtney Ledbetter also earned All-MEC accolades for their performances in the 100-yard free.
 
In the 200-yard backstroke, Wheeling’s Jade Miller completed the race in 2:09.18 for a sixth-place finish. Alexis Antol of Fairmont State placed seventh overall and D&E’s Casey Hayford came in eighth. Notre Dame College’s Jaybreona Foster was the MEC top-finisher in the 200-yard breaststroke. Shelbey Fuller and Natasha Paciello took home MEC honors after their performances in the 200-yard breaststroke.
 
To conclude the night, Frostburg State’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Nebiolo, Hooper, Francesca Crevoiserat and Perry finished fourth overall in the finals. Notre Dame College and Davis & Elkins finished in fifth and sixth place respectfully.

Hillsdale College claimed victory on the women’s side with 1631.5 points. Frostburg State was the highest-performing MEC team with 752 points. Notre Dame College ended with 648 points and Fairmont State compiled 492 points for sixth place.

On the men's side, Frostburg State’s Nate Canapp touched the wall fourth overall in the 1650-yard free. Daniel Alvarez of NDC and Justin Geiszler of Frostburg State were fifth and seventh overall. In the 100-yard free, Ashton Smith of NDC completed the race in 45.11 for a fourth-place finish. Jiwh Santos of Davis & Elkins came in seventh overall with a time of 47.35. Pedro Gaspar of Fairmont State finished in 47.45 and came in tenth.
 
Four of the top-eight finishers in the 200-yard backstroke were from MEC schools. Adonis Thomas (Fourth) and Geoff Dixon (Fifth) were in the top-three of MEC swimmers for the event. Majester Abdul-Jalil was the top MEC swimmer in the 200-yard breaststroke. Tyler Virtue and Enrique Garcia rounded out the top-three MEC finishers in the 200-yard breaststroke.
 
The Fairmont State 400-yard free relay team of Gaspar, Patrick Fubio, Virtue and Nathan Fubio finished in third. Notre Dame College and Frostburg State finished fourth and fifth in the relay.

Findlay won the meet with 1955.5 points. Notre Dame College accumulated the most points in MEC on the men’s side with 984.5 points. Fairmont State came in fourth with 825.5 points and Frostburg State placed fifth with 771 points.
