WHEELING, W.Va. -- Fairmont State opened the game on a 10-0 run and never looked back as the Falcons defeated Wheeling, 95-60, on Saturday afternoon at the McDonough Center.
The Falcons (3-1, 3-1 MEC) shot 54 percent from the field (33-of-61), and also 52 percent from behind the arc (11-of-21).
Dale Bonner led all players with 22 points for Fairmont State. Isaiah Sanders had 18 points and seven rebounds. Cole Vonhandorf tossed in 12 to go with five rebounds, four steals and four assists.
Jordan Reid had 21 points and 11 rebounds for the Cardinals (0-2, 0-2 MEC). Jay Gentry scored 15 and Jarett Haines added 14.
Glenville State 106, West Virginia Wesleyan 85 | Final Stats
BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Glenville State improved to 4-0 on the year with a 106-85 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at the Rockefeller Center.
The Pioneers led by five at the half, but shot a scorching 58 percent in the second half and scored 60 points to 21-point victory.
Hegel Augustin led a balanced offensive attack with 24 points and eight rebounds for GSC (4-0, 4-0 MEC). John Williams scored 20 of his own, Nicholas Edwards had 19 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and six assists. Adrian Scarborough had 16 points and Zane Desouza netted 13.
Jaylin Reed had 21 points for West Virginia Wesleyan (0-4, 0-4 MEC). Ross Young scored 18 and Daylin Lee had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Charleston 83, Notre Dame 60 | Final Stats
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Charleston posted an 83-60 win over Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon at Murphy Gymnasium.
The Golden Eagles evened their record at 2-2 (2-2 MEC), while Notre Dame slipped to 0-3 on the year (0-3 MEC).
Charleston shot 51 percent from the field in the game and had 21 assists on its 30 field goals. Shaunn Monroe had 20 points for the Golden Eagles on 8-of-11 shooting (4-of-5 from three-point range). Eddie Colbert scored 11 more for UC.
Jordan Roland had 21 for NDC, while Tyland Crawford had 12 points and five rebounds.
Davis & Elkins 67, Concord 56 | Final Stats
ELKINS, W.Va. -- Davis & Elkins defeated Concord, 67-56, on Saturday afternoon at the McDonnell Center.
Gyasi Powell led D&E (2-2, 2-2 MEC) with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He also had four steals and four assists. Breland Walton contributed 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Marcus Fleming had eight points and 11 rebounds. Sam Rolle dished out a game-high nine assists.
Malik Johnson had 16 points for Concord (2-2, 2-2 MEC). The Mountain Lions struggled from behind the arc making just 3-of-16 attempts.
West Liberty 134, Frostburg State 72 | Final Stats
WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. -- West Liberty rolled past Frostburg State, 134-72, on Saturday afternoon at the ASRC.
The Hilltoppers (4-0, 4-0 MEC) were dominant for the duration scoring 79 points in the first half alone. WLU shot 58 percent from the field for the game, drained 14 three-pointers and had assists on 31 of its 45 field goals.
Three players scored over 20 for WLU, led by Pat Robinson's 26. Will Yoakum had 23, and Dalton Bolon had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Bryce Butler (16), Malik McKinney (12), Zach Rasile (12) and Owen Hazelbaker (11) all had double-digit scoring totals.
Agyei Edwards had 18 points for Frostburg State (1-2, 2-2 MEC). Desmond Rene had 11 and Jamil Jones scored 10 points and had a team-high six rebounds.
West Virginia State 76, Alderson Broaddus 72 | Final Stats
PHILIPPI, W.Va. -- West Virginia State needed to erase a seven-point deficit with 7:29 to play to come away with a 76-72 win over Alderson Broaddus on Saturday night at Rex Pyles Arena.
The Yellow Jackets (3-1, 3-1 MEC) were led by Anthony Pittman's 24 points and 20 rebounds. It was just the ninth time an MEC player had recorded 20 points and 20 rebounds in the same game. Pittman was 9-of-14 from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Glen Abram and Jeremiah Moore each had 15 points, and Gus Stone had 12 points.
Alderson Broaddus (1-3, 1-3 MEC) was paced by 17 points from KJ Walker. David Shriver had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Coryon Rice netted 15 points for the Battlers.
