FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Frostburg State forward Nate Kennedy was selected as the MEC Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate goalkeeper Josiah Emerson was named the MEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Kennedy, a sophomore from Mechansville, Maryland aided in the Bobcats' ranked win on Sept. 2 over No. 8 Bloomsburg, 2-1. The forward earned both goals in the contest, tallying four total points. His second goal of the night netted the game-winning volley with just over eight minutes left in the game.

Emerson, a graduate student from Claremont, California helped Frostburg State remain unbeaten against two ranked opponents. The goalkeeper made one save against Bloomsburg, as the Huskies managed only two shots on target. Additionally, Emerson made a career-high eight saves in the Bobcats’ 1-1 draw against No. 17 Davis & Elkins.
