FAIRMONT, W. Va. -  The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan. 

West Virginia State’s forward Leila Karam was selected as the MEC Offensive Player of the Week, while Point Park’s goalkeeper Nicole Kuchinski was named the MEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Karam, a senior from Montreal, Quebec, scored two goals in the Yellow Jackets’ 3-1 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Sept. 20. Additionally, Karam added an assist in a 2-1 win over Concord on Sept. 16. The forward currently leads the Mountain East Conference in goals, with four.

Kuchinski, a senior from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, allowed one goal, while recording 11 saves over two games. In Point Park’s win over Frostburg State on Sept. 20, Kuchinski earned her fourth shutout of the season, with five saves.
