FAIRMONT, W. Va. -  The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan. 

Point Park’s forward Rebecca Pihlgren was selected as the MEC Offensive Player of the Week, while Shawnee State’s goalkeeper Harlee Brand was named the MEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Pihlgren, a sophomore from Stockholm, Sweden, scored two unassisted goals in Point Park’s win over Wheeling. Pihlgren’s goals came in the 79th and 80th minute, breaking open a scoreless game. 

Brand, a junior from Winchester, Ohio, totaled 15 saves throughout the Bear’s two games. The goalkeeper posted nine saves in Shawnee State’s draw with West Virginia Wesleyan. Brand currently ranks third in the MEC with a .882% save percentage.
