FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Concord’s forward Dominique Malhomme was selected as the MEC Offensive Player of the Week, while Shawnee State’s goalkeeper Eduardo Peña was named the MEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Malhomme, a senior from Chateauroux, France scored in each game of the 2-0 week for the Mountain Lions. He tallied his first goal of the season in a 2-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Sept. 9. Malhomme returned to the field to net a goal in the 34th minute in a 2-1 win over Shawnee State on Sept. 13.

Peña, a sophomore from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic recorded a complete-game shutout in the Bears 6-0 win over Cincinnati-Clermont on Sept. 8. The goalkeeper played a full 90 minutes in the contest, earning the first shutout of his collegiate career with two saves.
