CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The 2026 MEC Men’s Tennis Championship is set as No. 1 seed Charleston will take on the No. 2 seed in Fairmont State on Sunday, May 3 at 12 p.m in Charleston, West Virginia.
#1 Charleston def. #4 Davis & Elkins, 4-0
The University of Charleston defeated the No. 4 seeded Senators of Davis & Elkins 4-0 on Saturday as they punched their ticket to the championship match.
UC would take the doubles point as the team of Vicente Garcia and Omar Elsamahy would defeat D&E’s Philipp Fedorczuk, 6-0 and then Alberto Nordio and Nils Pottbecker would defeat Simon Kiekbeld and Filippo Buffo 6-1.
Then in singles, UC’s number two, Omar Elsamahy would get the first point of the singles as he defeated D&E’a Justus Petersilie, 6-2 and 6-0. Charleston’s third point would come in the number three match as Elias Lagger beat Christopher Wirahadipoernomo of Davis & Elkins, 6-0 and 6-4.
The fourth and final point would come in the number four match, as UC’s Nils Pottbecker won 7-6 and 6-2 defeating D&E’s Tom Strohschein.
UC will take on No. 2 seed in Fairmont State at 12 p.m.
#2 Fairmont State def. #3 West Virginia Wesleyan, 4-0
The No. 2 seeded Fairmont State Falcons will take on the No, 1 seeded Golden Eagles of Charleston for the 2026 MEC Men’s Tennis Championship on Sunday in Charleston, West Virginia at 12 p.m.
Fairmont State defeated the No.3 seeded Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday in semifinal number two, 4-0.
Fairmont State would win the doubles point after Kusunoki Haruto and Noah Liedtke defeated Felipe Mioch and Jheng Min Huang, 6-3 while Mohamed Mostafa Moens and Gustavo De Souza Do Prado Masu beat Daniel Podoprygora and Timithe Plaza.
Fairmont State then took the second point, in single number five match, as Mohamed Mostafa Moens beat Timothe Plaza, 6-3 and 6-1. The third point would then come in the number one singles match as Kusunoki Haruto defeated Felipe Mioch, 6-3 and 6-1.
The final victory sealing point would come in number four singles. Fairmont State’s Noah Liedtke defeated WVWC’s Jheng in Huang, 6-2 and 6-2, as the Falcons advance to the 2026 MEC Championship.
