MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The University of Charleston held off Point Park University as they claimed the Mountain East Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
The Golden Eagles finished with 186 points while Point Park finished the three-day meet with 166 points. West Virginia Wesleyan finished with 93.5 points as they placed 3
rd overall. The Hilltoppers of West Liberty and the Pioneers of Glenville State tied for 4
th place scoring 70 points rounding out the top five.
The MEC also handed out five individual awards. The 2026 Most Valuable Performer went to Charleston’s Laura Delgado de Torres. Charleston’s Mallori Dunn-Martin was named the MEC Women’s Freshman of the Year. Point Park’s Dunya Van de tooren was named the MEC Women’s Field Athlete of the Year.
Two other awards were decided by a vote of the league’s head coaches. Colette Patti of Charleston was named the MEC Women’s Track Athlete of the Year while UC’s head coach Nick Bias was named the MEC Women’s Head Coach of the Year.
The MEC determines all-conference recognition based on the top three finishers in every event, with the champion taking All-MEC first team, the runner-up earning second team honors, and the third-place finisher gets named honorable mention.
