BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -  The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winner of this week’s Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week. The weekly awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Point Park’s Akeem Mustapha has been named the MEC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, while Davis & Elkins’ Jeanne Pelissier and Point Park’s Mya Greschner have been named the MEC Co-Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week.
 
Mustapha, a junior from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, had a time of 10.49 seconds, Akeem Mustapha set a new school record in the 100 meters on Thursday at Shippensburg. The time ranks first in the MEC and ninth in the Atlantic Region this spring. He also turned in a mark of 1.95 meters in the high jump on Thursday, a mark that ranks third in the MEC and 12th in the region.
 
Pelissier, a freshman from La Meziere, France, had a great weekend. At the Virginia Challenge (UVA) broke the 17-minute barrier in the 5000m running a MEC and Atlantic region leading time of 16:57.87. Pelissier finished 3rd overall in section 1 (top D2 finisher) running a school record in the event and beat runners from Pitt, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Syracuse, Delaware, Marshall, Army and Navy among others. 
 
Greschner, a junior from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, had a time of 56.06 in the 400 meters on Thursday at Shippensburg, Mya Greschner now holds the top time in the MEC in the event. The time also ranks second in school history as she took first place in the event on Thursday. Greschner also ranks second in the MEC in the 200m and fourth in the 100m.
In the Atlantic Region, Greschner ranks fifth in the 400m and 10th in the 200m.
