BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Point Park’s Maya Figueroa is the MEC Offensive Player of the Week after notching her first goal for the Pioneers. Figueroa, a junior from Las Cruces, New Mexico, scored at the 34:49 mark of the first half to tie the game with Florida Southern, a game which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Wheeling’s Akyla Walcott is the MEC Defensive Player of the Week after her contributions against Lourdes. The native of Trinidad and Tobago made eight saves in the loss, her only appearance of the week.
