BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Women’s Soccer Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Fairmont State’s Sam Yuen is the MEC Offensive Player of the Week, while Charleston’s Sofia Chaverra is the MEC Defensive Player of the Week.

Yuen, a sophomore from Huntingtown, Maryland, had a four-goal outburst this week as the Falcons picked up a pair of wins. Yuen recorded four goals in a conference win against West Liberty, while also adding an assist.

Chaverra, a goalkeeper who hails from Colombia, helped the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 conference win against Davis & Elkins. Chaverra, the team captain in the game, played the full 90 minutes to record the clean sheet with five saves.
