BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Frostburg State pitcher Patrick Bauer, who had already collected the Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week honor on Monday, collected another award Tuesday.
Bauer, a senior from Catonsville, Maryland, was named the NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week after finishing off Frostburg’s 3-1 weekend with a flourish by firing a complete-game 2-hitter in a 7-1 win against West Virginia State over the weekend. Bauer carried a perfect game into the fifth before surrendering his only two hits and retired the side in order over the final two frames to complete his gem.
The rangy righty struck out a career-best 11 and didn’t walk a batter in improving to 4-1 on the young season. Bauer ranks first in the conference in batting average allowed (.196) while placing second in the MEC in ERA (2.77) and strikeouts (33).
