BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Football Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Fairmont State’s Leonard Farrow is the MEC Offensive Player of the Week, Wheeling’s Kameron Reynolds is the Defensive honoree, and Frostburg State’s Osman Fanny captured the Special Teams Player of the Week award.
Farrow carried the ball 21 times for 270 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, and added two receptions for 22 yards. The junior from Mount Hope, West Virginia, has recorded six 100-yard rushing performances, and Saturday’s output in an overtime win at West Liberty is his second 200-yard game this season. Farrow ranks No. 3 in Division II in rushing yards per game.
Reynolds, a sophomore from Silver Spring, Maryland, made seven tackles in Wheeling’s narrow victory against Concord, helping the Cardinals by forcing a fumble that resulted in a turnover and snagging an interception. Reynolds’ interception came in the first quarter and set up a field goal, while the forced fumble protected Wheeling’s lead entering halftime.
Fanny, a freshman from Gaithersburg, Maryland, was a difference-maker on special teams for Frostburg State. He had a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to tie the game, and then blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown to pull the Bobcats within 2 points.
