DANIELS, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference will host its first championship of the 2025-26 calendar this week with the Men’s and Women’s Golf Championship on the Cobb Course at the Resort at Glade Springs.
The three-day event begins Monday at 8 a.m. with the MEC Men’s Championship first round. The MEC Women’s Championship tees off Monday at noon. The top six teams after Monday and Tuesday’s first two rounds advance to Wednesday’s final round. The top three individual finishers who are not on one of the advancing teams will also advance to Wednesday’s action.
On the men’s side, the University of Charleston defends its title after surviving a three-team battle at the 2024 Championship. UC outlasted West Liberty and Davis & Elkins a year ago, beating both programs by two strokes in an outcome that was not decided until the final hole. Davis & Elkins has the only returning All-MEC first team player from the spring — junior Lucio Pavicich, who finished tied for seventh at last year’s championship.
On the women’s side, Glenville State is the defending champion, but the Pioneers have new faces in the lineup. Last fall, Glenville State narrowly defeated the University of Charleston by one stroke as the championship was decided on the final hole. The Golden Eagles return a trio of first team All-MEC performers: Lucia Martin, Mari Filippa Larsen, and Gabrielle Harrison. Martin and Larsen finished tied for second at last year’s event, which was also held on the Cobb Course at the Resort at Glade Springs.
The 54-hole MEC Men’s Golf Championship will be played from the black tees. The par 72 course plays at 7,151 yards. The MEC Women’s Golf Championship will be played from the white tees: also a par 72 at 6,001 yards.
Coverage of the event can be found at mountaineast.org, on X (TheMountainEast) and Instagram (MountainEastConf). The MEC’s official website will have a daily recap, results, and photo galleries for both the men’s and women’s action.
