BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – A pair of Concord University standouts have swept this week’s Mountain East Conference Women’s Soccer Players of the Week honors. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Mountain Lion midfielder Tiana Campbell is the MEC Offensive Player of the Week with Concord defender Leah Fleming claiming MEC Defensive Player of the Week laurels.
Campbell, a 5-9 freshman from Plymouth, England, banged home a trio of unassisted goals as the Mountain Lions stretched their winning streak to four matches with a pair of wins. Campbell’s two goals against West Virginia State on Sunday helped stake Concord to a 3-1 halftime lead, laying the groundwork for a 4-3 win.
Fleming, a 5-5 senior from Arbroath, Scotland, came out of the back to notch her first career hat trick in Wednesday’s 6-1 win against West Virginia Wesleyan. Fleming’s goals all came in a 13-minute span of the opening half as she found the net in the 31st, 39th, and 44th minutes.
