Three MEC Men's Tennis Programs Earn NCAA Bids, Regional Play Begins Friday

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Three Mountain East Conference men’s tennis programs will open Atlantic Regional tennis play on Friday and Saturday at two different regional sites. The University of Charleston earned the top seeded in the Atlantic Region, while third-seeded Fairmont State and fifth-seeded West Virginia Wesleyan also earned a spot in the national tournament field.
 
Charleston, the top seed in the Atlantic Region, will host the top half of the bracket on Friday and Saturday. Fourth-seeded Bluefield State and fifth-seeded West Virginia Wesleyan will meet on Friday at 5 p.m. in Charleston, with the winner taking on the Golden Eagles on Saturday at 9 a.m. with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line.
 
Second-seeded Edinboro will host the bottom half of the bracket, which will also be played on Friday and Saturday and Northwestern Pennsylvania. The action will get underway with second-seeded Edinboro against seventh-seeded Shaw at 1 p.m. Friday. In the evening, third-seeded Fairmont State, the 2023 winner of the MEC Men’s Tennis Tournament, will take on six-seeded Mercyhurst at 6:30 p.m. The opening round winners will meet at 4 p.m. Saturday with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line.
 
The NCAA Men’s Tennis Sweet 16 will be played May 11-16 at the USTA National Campus (Collegiate Center) in Orlando, Fla.
