LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The University of Charleston won the 2023 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Women’s Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning at Lock Haven University, winning the regional crown for the second consecutive year. Davis & Elkins finished third at the regional championship event right behind runner-up Slippery Rock.
UC, Slippery Rock and Davis & Elkins have each punched tickets to the NCAA Division II Women’s Cross Country National Championships as a result of their top-three finishes on Saturday. The individual qualifiers for the national championships include individual regional champion Kylie Anicic from Edinboro and Elaina Klinger from Lock Haven.
Anicic took individual honors at the championship with a time of 20:19.2, followed by Charleston’s Julie LaFare in second (20:34.1) and Klinger in third (20:37.9).
Fairmont State’s Carlina Jacquez turned in a top 10 finish with a time of 21:29.9. She finished 10
th in the race to earn All-Region recognition. Davis & Elkins’ Lydia Falkenstein (11

th), Charleston’s Lily Dowdell (13
th), West Virginia Wesleyan’s Leigha Hall (14
th), Charleston’s Mercy Jepleting (16
th), Jeanne Corroy (21

nd), Davis & Elkins’ Lauren Twyman (23rd) and Glenville State’s Natalie Barr (25
th) also brought home All-Atlantic Region honors after placing in the Top 25 on Saturday.
In addition to Charleston (74) and Davis & Elkins (139) placing in the Top 3 on the team leaderboard, West Virginia Wesleyan finished in 13
th with 352 points, and Concord placed 15
th with 368 points.
