Glenville State's Barr, Davis & Elkins Highlight Women's Cross Country Regional

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Davis & Elkins finished first at the NCAA Atlantic Region Women’s Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning, while Glenville State’s Natalie Barr won the individual title.

The 6K race, which took place at the West Branch Cross Country Course at Stern Athletic Complex in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, featured seven Mountain East Conference teams. Davis & Elkins secured a berth to the Division II National Championship, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Barr, who won with a time of 21:22.00, qualified for the field as an individual.

The Senators were led by Lauren Twyman (fourth), Savanna Hardman (sixth), and Rebecca Tellez (seventh). Davis & Elkins finished ahead of second-place East Stroudsburg and third-place Edinboro.

The next-best finish from an MEC team came from West Virginia Wesleyan, which placed ninth, followed by Glenville State (No. 13), Charleston (No. 14), Frostburg State (No. 16), Concord (No. 17), and West Liberty (No. 21).

The top three teams from each regional meet automatically advanced to the championship (24 teams total). Individually, the top two student-athletes who are not part of a qualifying team automatically advanced (16 runners). All competitors who finished in the top five at the regional meet and are not part of a qualifying team also advanced to the NCAA Championships.
