CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The No. 19 ranked Charleston men’s tennis team advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 with a 4-0 win over fellow Mountain East Conference program West Liberty on Tuesday afternoon at the Schoenbaum Tennis Courts in Charleston.
 
With the win, the Golden Eagles advanced to next week’s NCAA Division II National Championships, which will be hosted by Rollins College in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
 
Prior to Tuesday’s regional championship match, West Liberty and Mercyhurst battled in a regional semifinal on Monday afternoon in Charleston – with the Hilltoppers winning 4-2 to set up an all MEC Region I final between the ‘Toppers and Golden Eagles.
 
At the opposite site of the Atlantic Regional, the sixth-ranked Fairmont State men’s tennis team matched-up with Bluefield State in a regional semifinal, which ended in a 4-0 win for the Blues. In the Atlantic Region II final, Edinboro was a 4-2 winner over Bluefield State – sending the Fighting Scots to the National Championship site as the region’s second representative.
