WARREN, Ohio -- The University of Charleston's three-shot lead after the first day stood up as it took home the 2021 Mountain East Conference Women's Golf title.
After shooting 338 on the first day, UC shot 335 on the second day for a two-day total of 673. The Golden Eagles were challenged by West Virginia Wesleyan. The Bobcats trailed by just three when the day started, and managed to take a lead on the final nine holes, but ended up scoring 335 on the second day, and could not make up the difference.
Wheeling was third (689), followed by Davis & Elkins (723), Fairmont State (737) and Notre Dame (752).
WVWC's Kiana Toole ran away with the medalist honors shooting a tournament-low 74 on the final 18 holes. She was the only player to shoot in the 70s both days and finished with a score of 153. Tooke earned both Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors at the conclusion of the tournament.
Elizabeth Karsten was runner-up with 163, while Wheeling's Emily Holzopfel and Wesleyan's Sumire Ebioka tied for third. Beatrice Dietz (UC) took fifth, and Sarah Feizel (UC) and Zoila Herrera (WU) tied for sixth.
