BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- West Liberty's Dan Monteroso has been named the Mountain East Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Monteroso, a junior from St. Clairsville, Ohio, was key in helping the third-ranked Hilltoppers to a pair of important MEC wins last week averaging 24.5 points and 4.0 rebounds. He opened the week with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting in a win over Shepherd. He then exploded for 31 points, including 29 in the second half, to help WLU hand second-ranked Fairmont State its first loss of the season. In the two games this week Monteroso shot a blistering 65 percent from the floor (17-of-26) and was 9-of-9 from the free throw line.

Jason Jolly (FSU) averaged 18 points and three rebounds for the nationally ranked Falcons men's basketball team in a 1-1 week...Mo Berchie (WVWC) notched 18.5 points per game with eight assists and six rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Bobcats. He scored a game-high 22 points in a home win against UVa-Wise...DeQuan Abrom (UU) has scored double-digits in each of his last four outings while averaging 20 points, 7.5 boards and 4.0 assists during the week...Terry Davis Jr. (GSC) averaged 19.5 points and six rebounds per game over the course of two losses this week...Keir Anderson (UC) averaged 22 points and seven rebounds in Charleston's wins this past week, including a 25-point, nine-rebound effort in the Golden Eagles upset of Notre Dame College...Aaron Miller (CU) posted 23 points in a road win at Glenville State then returned on Saturday to notch his second 30-point game in the last four contests as CU downed West Virginia Wesleyan...Haywood Highsmith (WJU) scored 17 points and grabbed 19 rebounds against Fairmont State and drained 18 points with eight rebounds against Shepherd..Taiwo Badmus (UVa-Wise) averaged a double-double of 17.5 points and 13 rebounds as UVa-Wise went 1-1 this week.
