Bobcats Picked To Win Third MEC Women's Cross Country Championship

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- West Virginia Wesleyan has been picked by a vote of the league coaches to win its third Mountain East Conference Women's Cross Country championship in the last three years. 

The Bobcats finished atop the poll with 98 points had had nine first-place votes. WVWC has a host of All-MEC returners coming back this fall including Ali Cunningham, Rachel Pinto, Sydney Pineault, Kaylee Williams and Baylee Summers. 

Wheeling Jesuit, which will be led by the 2014 MEC Freshman and Runner of the Year Kelsey Chambers, finished second in the poll with 91 points and one first-place vote. Charleston was picked to finish third with 78 points, followed by West Liberty (64), Fairmont State (59) and Notre Dame (58). Concord (55) was picked seventh and had one first-place vote, followed by UVa-Wise (41), Urbana (28), Glenville State (22) and West Virginia State (11).

The 2015 MEC men's and women's cross country championships will be held Sat., Oct. 24, at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex.
