Shaffer, Rosales Earn MEC Acrobatic & Tumbling Honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Fairmont State’s Azia Shaffer has been named the MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Player of the Week while Glenville State’s Delaney Rosales has been named the MEC Acrobatics & Tumbling Specialist of the Week.
 
Shaffer, a senior top/tumbler from Morgantown, West Virginia, competed in 8 heats and team event for Fairmont State last Monday, recording five scores of 9.50 or higher. She helped the Falcons to the highest toss score this week with a 9.75/10.0. 
 
Rosales, a senior base/tumbler from South Elgin, Illinois, is a catcher for inversion pyramid which is an unassisted extended high hand in hand catch in cradle, a mid for duo which is a 270 up straddle on backbend 360 down, and a mid for open a 270 up pike on backbend flip to ground. Both inversion and open were season highs.
