BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s MEC Softball Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Concord’s Kendall Morgan has been named the MEC Softball Player of the week while Fairmont State’s Delaney Haller has been named the MEC Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Morgan, a junior infielder from King George, Virginia, went 6-for-14, a .428 average, over four games as Concord went 3-1 during the week. She collected two multi-hit games, two RBI, a double and three runs scored. She drove in two runs in a loss to Mars Hill Monday. Over the weekend, Morgan was 5-for-7 in a doubleheader sweep of Belmont Abbey. She started the day by going 2-for-3 with a run scored and a double in a 3-1 win. In game two, Morgan came through with a 3-of-4 afternoon with two runs scored and two stolen bases.
Haller, a junior from Meadowbrook, West Virginia, helped the Falcons go 3-1 this week while she went 1-0 on the mound. She pitched 10.2 innings, allowing just six hits while walking three batters and finished with 5 strike outs. Against Barton, she pitched the entire game picking up the 2-1 win on the mound.
