DANIELS, W.Va. — A trio of University of Charleston student-athletes topped the leaderboard at the 2025 Mountain East Conference Women’s Golf Championship, propelling the Golden Eagles to the team title on Wednesday on the Cobb Course at the Resort at Glade Springs.
UC teammates Mari Filippa Larsen and Lucia Martin each finished the 54-hole event at +16, forcing a playoff that Larsen won on the second hole to earn medalist honors. Larsen entered Wednesday’s third and final round on the par-72 course with a six-shot lead that Martin erased to force the two-person playoff. Their teammate, Gabrielle Harrison, finished third to give the Golden Eagles the top three finishes and the team championship.
Larsen, Martin, and Harrison earned all-tournament honors, as well as Glenville State teammates Moa Lindgren (fourth) and Elaina Seeley (tied for fifth), and Wheeling’s Ella Keffer (tied for fifth). Martin’s four-over-par final round was the best performance during the final round of competition.
Charleston recorded the best team score in all three rounds this week, beating defending champion Glenville State by 32 strokes overall. The Golden Eagles opened most of that gap during Tuesday’s second round, finishing 20 shots better than the Pioneers. Among the six teams who made the cut for Wednesday’s final round, Fairmont State finished third, followed by Concord, Davis & Elkins, and Wheeling.
