Nyia Setla Honored As Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Liberty volleyball standout Nyia Setla was voted the Mountain East Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2023-24, the league announced on Friday afternoon.
 
Setla, a senior from Northville, Mich., was voted the MEC Libero of the Year in 2023 and added All-Atlantic Region honor from the AVCA and D2CCA. She also received AVCA honorable mention All-America honors this season. During her senior season, Setla surpassed 2,000 career digs and was a four-time MEC Defensive Player of the Week. Statistically, she ranked second in the MEC and 23rd nationally in total digs (579).
 
Setla is now a two-time All-America, two-time MEC Libero of the Year, and has 2,229 career digs.
 
In the classroom, Setla has a 3.90 grade-point average as an Environmental Stewardship major at West Liberty University.

The MEC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year is selected by a vote of institutional administrators and the conference office.
