INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The NCAA released its list of Division II institutions earning the Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence and Davis & Elkins was among just 44 NCAA Division II institutions to be honored.
The Presidents' Award is an honored bestowed upon institutions who achieved an Academic Success Rate of 90% or higher. The NCAA Academic Success Rate (ASR) is the percentage of student-athletes who graduate within six years of their entering year. The Division II ASR includes transfers into a school in the calculation and removes those who transferred out of the school while academically eligible. The NCAA's ASR also includes over 30,000 nonscholarship student-athletes who were enrolled in the four years covered in the most recent data.
"Congratulations to the 44 schools who have earned this prestigious award," said Steven Shirley, president of Minot State and chair of the Division II Presidents Council. "It takes a collective effort from the student-athletes, coaches, university and athletic administrators to earn an Academic Success Rate of 90% or higher, and I'm very excited to recognize these schools."
Davis & Elkins student-athletes earned a 91% ASR for 2022-2023 and seven teams earned a 100%. D&E has earned the Presidents' Award seven of the thirteen years the award has been given.
"It is wonderful to have the hard work of our student-athletes be recognizes," said Director of Athletics Patrick Snively. "I feel this is a true testament to the dedication of not only the student-athletes in our department, but also the diligence and devotion of their coaches, faculty, and staff. And none of this would be possible without the additional support in the form of educational support, tutoring, and study hall hours provided by our Naylor Learning Center staff."
