BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Following the conclusion of the 2023 Mountain East Conference Volleyball regular season on Friday night, the league office announced the seeds and matchups for next week’s Volleyball Championship, which will be hosted by South Division Champion West Virginia State at the Walker Convocation Center in Institute from Nov. 16-18.
The Yellow Jackets won the south division championship and hosting rights by finishing the regular season with a 14-1 record in conference play. Charleston will be the No. 2 seed in the south following an 11-4 campaign, while Concord (6-9) will be the division’s No. 3 seed. Frostburg State (5-9), the fifth-place team in the MEC North Division, replaces Glenville State (5-10) as the No. 4 seed in the south division. The Bobcats earned their spot in the tournament by having a better regular season record and a head-to-head victory over the Pioneers during the regular season.
Wheeling wrapped up the MEC North Division Championship on Friday night with its 3-0 win over West Liberty in the season finale. The Cardinals finished the year with a 12-2 mark in league play. West Liberty (10-4) will be the No. 2 seed in the north, followed by Fairmont State as the No. 3 seed with an 8-6 record. Notre Dame took the No. 4 seed in the north with its 7-7 record during the regular season.
