We thank the University of Virginia’s College at Wise for its contributions to date in the Mountain East Conference through our formative years. We anticipate UVa-Wise’s transition to be smooth following the 2018-19 season in the MEC.

In just under five years, the Mountain East Conference has earned the respect of its peers both regionally and nationally with consistent postseason success, including two team national championships. Our vision for this league from its inception has been to align regionally-based institutions with similar enrollments, budgets and goals. Our values have created consistently positive experiences for our student-athletes and our platform has supported numerous NCAA successes. These core principles comprise our league's greatest strength.

We have cultivated a highly competitive league where the collective successes of our membership have far exceeded our high expectations. We are confident that a high-quality institution will emerge from our membership process allowing us to maintain twelve members, reduce the footprint of what is already one of the most travel advantaged Division II conferences, sustain a regionally-based presence and preserve our long-term competitiveness.
