2026 MEC Men’s Golf Championship Set to Begin on Sunday

FAIRMONT, W. Va. - The Mountain East Conference will host its first championship of the 2026-27 calendar this week with the Men’s Golf Championship on the Palmer Signature Course at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke, West Virginia. The tournament will be held October 4-6.

The three-day event begins Sunday at 9 a.m. ET, with the MEC Men’s Championship first round. The championship will feature 54 holes of stroke play featuring a field of up to 50 student-athletes across 11 conference institutions.

The University of Charleston looks to defend the conference crown, after clinching back-to-back MEC Golf Championship titles in 2024 and 2025. UC outlasted Glenville State a year ago, beating the Pioneers by three strokes after then senior Pau Sanchez shot 69 (-3) in the final round of the tournament.

Three MEC All-Tournament selections return to the championship including Glenville State’s sophomore Daiki Aiura, Wheeling’s junior Zak Collins and Fairmont State’s junior Caleb Young after finishing in the top-five of last year’s event.

Set along the shores of Stonewall Jackson Lake in north-central West Virginia, the Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course at Stonewall Resort is regarded as one of the premier golf venues in the region. The resort features an adirondack-style lodge along with full-service amenities.

Coverage of the event can be found at mountaineast.org, on X (TheMountainEast) and Instagram (MountainEastConf). The MEC’s official website will have a daily recap, results, and photo galleries from the championship.
