FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference has announced Wednesday afternoon this week’s Men’s and Women’s Golfers of the Week awards. The MEC’s weekly individual awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Point Park’s Joshua Topper has been named the MEC Men’s Golfer of the Week, while Wheeling’s Sawyer Hobbs is the MEC Women’s Golfer of the Week.

Topper, a sophomore from Bedford, Pennsylvania, finished eighth overall at the West Chester Battlefield Classic in Gettysburg, Pa. on Sept. 21-22. Topper shot 74 (+2) in one round at the event, which was shortened due to inclement weather. The sophomore notched three birdies in Gettysburg. 

Hobbs, a junior from Wilsonville, Alabama led the Cardinals at the West Chester Battlefield Classic as well. Hobbs finished 10th overall, aiding in Wheeling’s fourth place team finish. The junior shot an 82 (+10) during the round, finishing with a birdie and nine pars across 18 holes.
