Concord's Smith Selected as MEC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year

FAIRMONT, W. Va. - Concord women’s basketball player Abbie Smith has been selected as the Mountain East Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2025-26.

The Little Hocking, Ohio, native capped a decorated career as a Mountain Lion with 2026 CSC Second Team Academic All-America honors in her final season. Smith was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team and the All-MEC Academic Team.

Smith rounded out her collegiate career with a 3.83 GPA and was honored on Concord’s Dean's List all eight semesters of her undergraduate degree. 

On the court, Smith was named a D2CCA Second Team All-American and a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American. The senior earned the D2CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year and  Mountain East Conference Player of the Year distinctions.

Smith was in the top-15 in three different statistical categories across Division II: rebounds (10.9 per game), field-goal percentage (57.0) and double-doubles (18).

At Concord, she was named the Female Athlete of the Year as well as the Female Senior Class Award winner.

Smith majored in Business Administration at Concord.

The MEC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year is selected by a vote of institutional administrators and the conference office.
