BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference has announced the winners of this week’s Male and Female Tennis Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Fairmont State’s Noah Liedtke has been named the MEC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week while Charleston’s Sara Martinez has been named the MEC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.
 
Liedtke, a freshman from Rottweil, Germany, went 2-0 in Saturday’s 5-2 win over Uva-Wise. At number one singles, Liedtke defeated Yi-Husan Chen in straight sets, 6-4/6-4. Then at number one doubles, Liedtke and Kusunoki Haruto bested Yi-Husan Chen/ Chathurya Nilaweera (UVA-W), 6-2.
 
Martinez, a senior from Spain, played the #1 single on Friday against the University of Dayton. She won the game 7-6, 6-2.
