BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — The Mountain East Conference has announced Wednesday afternoon this week’s Men’s and Women’s Golfers of the Week awards. The MEC’s weekly individual awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Point Park freshman Milo Thim has been named the MEC Men’s Golfer of the Week, while University of Charleston junior Lucia Martin is the MEC Women’s Golfer of the Week.
Thim, a native of Sweden, put together a pair of outstanding performances to begin his collegiate career. Thim finished third in the Wheeling Fall Invitational, finishing 2-under in the two-round event at Belmont Hills Country Club in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Thim opened with a 2-under 69, and followed that with a 71. He then won this week’s UC Invitational, which was held at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston, West Virginia. Thim put together back-to-back 67s at the UC Invitational — each round at 3-under — and then closed out the three-round event with a 71 to beat Wilmington (DE) golfer Noah Wallace for medalist honors.
Martin started her 2025-26 season off with a first-place finish at the UC Invitational. She sizzled in Round 1 by firing a 1-under 70, which is the lowest round ever shot by a Golden Eagles women’s golfer. Martin finished the opening round with three birdies and two bogeys, and then played bogey-free golf for the first 16 holes of the final round to finish the two-day event at +1 — three strokes ahead of Gannon’s Anastasia Lopes. The UC Invitational victory was Martin’s first event of the season after she was one of six student-athletes to earn All-MEC first team status a year ago.
