BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference announced Monday the winners of this week’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball Player of the Week awards. The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Charleston’s Harper Annarino and West Virginia Wesleyan’s Kilah Dandridge share the MEC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award, while Concord’s Anfernee Hanna and Frostburg State’s Trey Simmons share the MEC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.
 
Annarino, a sophomore forward from Newark, Ohio, had a double-double against West Liberty scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a 73-67 victory. Harper then posted another double-double against Wheeling, with 17 points and 15 rebounds in a 56-51 win.
 
Dandridge, a freshman guard from Martinsburg, West Virginia, helped the Bobcats earn two wins with an 83-58 victory over Point Park and a 71-43 win over Salem. She had 30 points, to go along with three rebounds, an assist, and two steals against PPU. Then against Salem, she scored 15 points, while grabbing five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Overall, she averaged 22.5 ppg, and 4.0 rpg in the two contests.
 
Hanna, a junior forward from Nassau, Bahamas, scored a career-best 25 points on 9-for-14 shooting and a 7-of-9 showing at the foul line in Concord's 97-83 win over Frostburg State. Hanna's 25 points is the most points for any Concord player this season. The win over Frostburg State helped Concord remain unbeaten in MEC play. 
 
Simmons, a sophomore guard from Gaithersburg, Maryland, averaged 31 points per game as team went 1-1 this week. In a loss to Concord, he had a season-high 35 points with 14 made field goals. He then scored 27 in a 94-85 win over Glenville State, also recording four rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the effort.
