BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Fairmont State’s Alyssa DeAngelo and Zyon Dobbs were recognized as the first Mountain East Conference Basketball Players of the Week of 2024, the league announced on Tuesday.

DeAngelo, a senior from Jefferson Hills, Pa., scored 26 points in Fairmont State’s 73-68 win over Malone on Dec. 30. DeAngelo shot 8-of-17 from the floor, 8-of-8 from the free throw line and also had two rebounds, one assist and a steal in the victory.
Dobbs, a graduate student from Fairmont, W.Va., averaged 20.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.0 steal in a 2-0 week for the Fairmont State men’s basketball team. He began the week with 18 points, six rebounds and four assists in the Falcons’ win over Virginia Union on Dec. 30. On New Year’s Eve, Dobbs scored 23 points and had six rebounds and six assists against Bowie State. He shot 8 of 13 from the floor against the Bulldogs. He shot over 60 percent from the floor for the week.
