Sato, Pineda and Underwood Earn MEC Men’s Soccer Weekly Honors

MEC Player of the Week is presented by The Health Plan

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Notre Dame College’s Mirai Sato has been named this week’s MEC Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Juan Pineda and West Liberty’s Noah Underwood have been named co-MEC Defensive Players of the Week.
 
The MEC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Sato, a junior forward from Suginamiku, Tokyo Japan, helped the Falcons go 2-0 this week with wins over Wheeling and Salem. Sato totaled four goals in the two matches with five shots on goal.
 
Pineda, a junior defender from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, helped Notre Dame pick up two wins this week over Wheeling and Salem. He played in 162 minutes and anchored a defense that didn’t allow a goal. He also added two goals against Wheeling.
 
Underwood, a graduate student goalkeeper from Belle, West Virginia, helped the Hilltoppers gain two wins this week over Frostburg State and Wheeling. He recorded six saves and a .857 save percentage in the two contests. Underwood tallied his third shutout of the season in the win over the Cardinals.
