Simms, Setla Claim MEC Volleyball Weekly Honors

MEC Player of the Week is presented by The Health Plan

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia State’s Jacklyn Simms has been named the Mountain East Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while West Liberty’s Nyia Setla has been named the Defensive Player of the Week.
 
The MEC Volleyball Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
 
Simms, a senior from Fairfield, Illinois, helped the Yellow Jackets go 2-0 this past week with victories over Glenville State and Davis & Elkins. In the two contests she tallied 26 kills, 26 digs, eight service aces, an assist, and a block. She tallied six-of-those-eight service aces in the Glenville State win. Against GSU, Simms recorded 15 kills and 15 digs while hitting .462. Later in the week against D&E, Simms totaled 11 kills and 11 digs for her second double-double of the week.
 
Setla, a junior libero from Northville, Michigan, helped the Hilltoppers go 2-0 this past week with wins over Salem and Fairmont State. She totaled 35 digs, six assists, two service aces, and a kill in the two contests. She tallied 21 digs in the win over Fairmont State. Setla has 12 matches of 20 or more digs this season.
